WebsiteSylvie Dumas is a Canadian artist who studied at Algonquin College and the Ottawa School of Art and continues to develop her practice through self-directed learning. Inspired by fellow artists, she values both technical skill and individual expression.
Beginning with portraiture, Sylvie developed a strong attention to detail before gradually shifting her focus toward nature and landscape painting. While living in Chelsea, Quebec, near Gatineau Park, she formed a deep connection to the outdoors that continues to influence her work today.
This transition into landscape painting brought new creative fulfillment, particularly through commissioned pieces that allow her to transform personal places and memories into art. Sylvie now divides her time between private commissions and developing painting series that explore quiet forest scenes, familiar landscapes, colourful subjects, and the relationship between structure and nature found in everyday surroundings.
