WebsiteLeanne Baird is a visual artist based in Peterborough, Ontario. Originally trained as a landscape designer, her connection to the natural world continues to shape her painting practice. She later returned to school to complete a Bachelor of Arts in Studio at the University of Toronto and has also studied in the United States and India.
Working primarily in acrylic, Leanne’s paintings focus on the landscape, especially trees, and the experience of being immersed in nature. Influenced by her studies of yoga and ancient Indian philosophy, her work explores the elements of earth, air, water, light, and space through abstract landscape painting.
Her work has been exhibited at galleries and studio tours across Ontario, including the Art Gallery of Peterborough, the Frederick Horsman Varley Art Gallery, the Agnes Jamieson Gallery, Rails End Gallery and Arts Centre, the Uxbridge Studio Tour, and the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour. She is represented by Colborne Street Gallery in Fenelon Falls.
Alongside her studio practice, Leanne has taught workshops for children, schools, and corporate groups, and previously served on the board of directors at the Art School of Peterborough.
