WebsiteMary McLoughlin is a painter and educator who has been creating and exhibiting her work since 1973. Born in Windsor, Ontario, she earned an Honours Bachelor of Fine Art from the University of Toronto in 1973, and a Bachelor of Education from OISE, University of Toronto in 2002.
Throughout her career, Mary has balanced her studio practice with teaching and illustration. She has illustrated five children’s books and taught art at Havergal College in Toronto. In the Peterborough area, she taught Design, Colour, and Oil Painting courses at Fleming College and led Freeing the Creative Spirit at Fleming’s Haliburton campus for eight summers.
Mary has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions since 1973, showing her work at the Art Gallery of Peterborough and other galleries and exhibition spaces in Peterborough, Toronto, Lindsay, Bancroft, and Fenelon Falls. In 2018, five of her paintings were featured in the publication The Artists of Kawartha.
For the past 12 years, Mary has taught private oil painting lessons from her studio, where she also regularly exhibits her work during First Friday art crawls.
