WebsiteBeverly MacRae’s passion for art is inspired by simple moments in nature and the beauty of the Kawarthas. Her paintings reflect an inner journey shaped by observation, stillness, and a deep appreciation for the natural world.
After retiring in 2011 following a 34-year career as a teacher and school principal in Toronto, Beverly picked up a paintbrush for the first time and began to pursue art more fully. She credits several important instructors for encouraging her growth as an artist, especially Andrew Hamilton, who taught her “how to feel and be an artist.”
Working primarily in acrylic. Beverly creates paintings filled bold light, strong shadows, and vibrant colours. Her process involves “finishing as I go,” beginning with the focal point of the painting and gradually building outward in sections.
For Beverly, art is about sharing simple pleasures and moments of beauty with others while embracing the quiet creativity that comes from slowing down and observing the world closely.
