Website“I began my life in clay by studying with and working for Ron Roy at Centennial College from 1967 to 1979. In 1980, I apprenticed with Kayo O’Young, learning the discipline of eggshell porcelain. During the summer of 1985 I studied Raku pottery with two British Columbia potters, Mas Funo and Richard Tanaka. I maintained an independent studio from 1979 to 1991. During this time, I participated in many Craft Fairs and private studio exhibitions. I decided to pursue a career in health care in 1991 and returned to [pottery] in 2012.
I aim to find the balance between form, function, and colour through the discipline of cone 10 reduction fired porcelain. The high fire reduction allows for richness in colour and depth in the glaze surface. The making of the object requires precision and discipline, which I find meditative.” – Don Clark
