I am a self-taught artist. My love of the natural world and the human condition are themes that have long been central to my work. I also integrate ideas from my work as a clinical therapist to express “parts” of the psyche that are somewhat universal, though often hidden. I have worked with paper mâché since the 1990’s. The sculptures are built around an armature that may be made from any combination of cardboard, newspaper, wire, wood, rocks, or Styrofoam. I like to incorporate found objects from nature if the piece calls for it. The final form is sealed with gesso, then layers of acrylic paint.
