WebsiteWendy Trusler is an interdisciplinary visual artist whose practice includes drawing, encaustic painting, writing, sculpture, performance, photography, film, and site-responsive installation. Shaped by her experiences of living in wild places, Wendy’s work explores ideas around ecology, continuity, and regeneration through both material choices and process.
Trusler exhibits in a wide range of settings including galleries, storefront windows, industrial spaces, and parks. Her creative process often involves participatory public projects that bring people together and encourage dialogue about what art can be and where it can be found.
Recent projects include The Antarctic Book of Cooking and Cleaning, Collective Vision, a curatorial project in the Mental Health Services Department at PRHC, and Voices at Hand, a performance piece based on an archive of letters that has been presented at nine venues across Ontario and reached online audiences in 26 countries.
Her work is held in corporate, private, and public collections including Global Television, Coca Cola Co, Cambium Consulting & Engineering, Trent University, and the Art Gallery of Peterborough. Trusler is an Associate of the Ontario College of Art and holds a degree in History from Western University. She has received numerous grants and awards, was shortlisted for the Taste Canada Food Writing Awards in 2014, and received a Chalmers Art Fellowship in 2015. She is represented by Isadore & Dunn Gallery in Brooklyn, New York.
