Tricia van Oostveen earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts from York University and has exhibited in galleries and festivals across Toronto, Hamilton, Durham, and the Kawartha region. Her work explores impressionistic landscapes, non-objective abstraction, and resin-based artwork that explores themes of nature, climate change, and human emotion.
A cancer journey further influenced her practice, leading to playful, light-infused compositions that celebrate hope. Her work explores the deep connection between humanity and the natural world, often focusing on the urgent realities of climate change. Through layers of texture, bold colour, and abstract compositions, she seeks to express the emotional tension between destruction and hope.
Her series, The Earth is Screaming and Living on the Edge, reflects this ongoing dialogue—capturing both the Earth’s distress and our precarious relationship with it. Whether working with paint, resin, or mixed media, her goal is to create contemporary landscapes that evoke both wonder and reflection, inviting viewers to engage with the beauty and fragility of our world. She continues to create, inspired by her love for nature, sustainability, and artistic experimentation.
