Website“I was born in Italy and immigrated to Canada at a very young age. I spent my youth in Cobourg, along the northern shores of Lake Ontario. After finishing my Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Toronto, I moved to Peterborough and worked for many years as a Professional Engineer and Senior Manager in the Power industry. Although I had a very demanding business career, I found time to explore and develop my interest in working with wood.
My early exposure in working with wood started with finishing carpentry and cabinet making with my father. In the 1990s my interest led to creating modern and classical furniture. This progression led me to joining the Kawartha Woodturners Guild (KWG) in 1997 where I quickly found that my true passion was woodturning. I joined the KWG Executive Committee and became President in 2001, continuing to serve on the executive for over 10 years, where I helped to promote the Guild and develop woodturning in the community. I continue to serve on the executive by promoting the Guild, educating woodturners and developing woodturning in the community. Over the years, I have attended many classes and symposiums to help inspire my work to go beyond traditional woodturning with the incorporation of color, texturing, epoxy, and wire sculpture.” – Frank DiDomizio
