David Beaucage Johnson’s artistic path began as an apprenticeship under local Canadian icons Norman Knott, Harold Town, Michael Dumas, Neil Broadfoot, George Raab, and Bill Lishman who guided his artistic exploration. As a result, he has produced a significant body of work, numbering at 15,400 original artworks. David’s works are diverse in medium: flint, wood, stone and leather; paintings on canvas and paper, including abstract and life drawing; photography, and serigraphy.

David is an Artist Instructor at the Haliburton School of Art and Design. He also exhibits in the Kawartha Artist Studio Tour and has served as Juror for The Kawartha Art Gallery. He has given presentations for the Centre of Creativity at King’s University College, the Celebration of Research at Trent University, and the Haliburton Museum. Recognition of his accomplishments have also spurred invitations of artist residencies at God’s Lake Narrows, The Southampton Arts Centre, and The Kitchener Waterloo Art Gallery. 

His work can be found in the collections of the Royal Ontario Museum, The Magnotta Winery, and Harper Collins Publishers, among others.

I create in my Studio on Buckhorn Lake using acrylic paint, watercolour, and ink. My Art intertwines the Anishnaabe spirit world with the natural world. My paintings are the result of an informal nurtured apprenticeship within a tightly woven vibrant and diverse community of Artists.
