@autorino88jmMiguel Hernández Autorino is a Venezuelan artist and designer who immigrated to Canada in 2014 and now lives in Peterborough, ON. Miguel creates oil paintings, pencil drawings and murals.
Miguel’s art is inspired by events and emotions that changed his life. His art is a representation of his life. He has participated in multiple juried shows. In the last year, Miguel has created multiple public pieces in downtown Peterborough. Notably, his artwork can be seen at the Peterborough Regional Health Centre, Health Unit, and the New Canadians Centre. Throughout the year, Miguel teaches one-on-one private lessons and drawing classes at the Art School of Peterborough. Miguel sits on the Board of Directors of the Art School of Peterborough as Co-chair and is an active volunteer in the community.
In 2022 Miguel was the recipient of the Laura Ciruls Painting Award.
“As an immigrant and a member of the LGBTQ community, I have faced years of self doubt, discrimination, and in a way, a lack of opportunities. It has been only in the past few years that my career has turned into a great place. As an artist, having the platform to showcase my artwork in the Kawartha Autumn Studio Tour is a wonderful experience.
